Paralegals, or legal assistants, assist lawyers in the delivery of legal services in all areas of the law. Although paralegals are restricted from giving legal advice, they can perform any function delegated by an attorney, including:
• Conducting client interviews
• Locating and interviewing witnesses
• Conducting investigations and legal research
• Drafting legal documents

Although most opportunities for paralegal positions are with private law firms, paralegals are also employed
by corporate legal departments, government offices, insurance companies, real estate and title insurance firms,
and banks. The national average salary for paralegals is $39,130 per year.
Weekends-Only Course
MCCC is partnering with The Center for Legal Studies to offer this intensive, nationally acclaimed weekend program designed for the entry-level student as well as someone already working in the legal field.
You will be trained to interview witnesses, investigate complex fact patterns, research the law, prepare legal
documents and assist in preparing cases for courtroom litigation. Beginning students will gain the knowledge
necessary to compete for entry-level paralegal positions. For people currently working in the field, the program will help increase office efficiency, productivity and billable hours. The instruction is practice-oriented and relates
to those areas of law in which paralegals are most in demand.
There are no prerequisites for this course; however, a significant amount of homework for each session will be
