An introduction to blueprint reading; interpretation of various kinds of lines, positions of views, symbols, conventions, dimensioning practices, sectioning, auxiliary views and symmetry with emphasis on techniques to show details in relation to assembly drawings.  

OUTCOME 1: Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to describe engineering drawing measurement, unit of measure, surfacing, tolerancing, fastening and indexing systems.  
 
OBJECTIVES:
  • Using the material presented on reading engineering drawing measurement, calculate measurements with the correct unit of measurement and apply tolerances with 80% accuracy.
  • Using the material presented on reading engineering drawings, identify surface finishes with 80% accuracy. 
  • Using the material presented on reading engineering drawings, identify fastening systems and indexing systems with 80% accuracy.  
 
OUTCOME 2: Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to describe types of sectioning, read and draw the following with 80% accuracy.

OUTCOME 3: Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to describe industrial castings, welding drawings, steel specifications, structural steel shapes, assembly drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.  
OBJECTIVES:
  • Using the material presented in reading engineering drawings of castings and weldments, read and interpret the following with 80% accuracy.
