The Plant Doctor’s Diary: An Update from the Field
Join “The Plant Doctor,” Dr. Dave (also known as “The Tree Doctor”), as he shares highlights from his travels across Michigan helping people and their plants in distress. Hear about real cases involving Oak Wilt, Pine Decline, European Pear Rust, Beech Bark Disease, Arborvitae Decline, herbicide injury, and more. With over 50 years of experience diagnosing and solving landscape problems, Dr. Dave will share insights, stories, and science—and answer your questions along the way.

Dr. David L. Roberts, known to many as The Plant Doctor or The Tree Doctor, retired from Michigan State University in 2018 after more than 40 years of helping people and plants across Michigan. Dr. Dave has tackled everything from Oak Wilt and Dutch Elm Disease to herbicide injury and turf problems. His work led to the discovery of new plant diseases and pests — including the infamous Emerald Ash Borer — and the development of innovative plant care solutions.  Now in “retirement,” Dr. Dave continues sharing his passion for trees and landscapes through The Plant Doctor, LLC.
